A Tisket a Tasket… A Visit to Kimball’s Fruit Farm Stand

We normally spend our weekends together as a family, especially gorgeous weekends like the one we’re having now, but today we decided to mix things up a little. We decided to split up and do different things. The Mr. and the boy ventured out on the boat today (first time the boat’s been out in 2 years?). As I write this, they’re both filling me in on their excursion. More details on that will follow soon. Bronwyn decided to spend the day with a friend who just moved into a beautiful new home. And I decided I’d take a drive to Hollis, New Hampshire, which is just over the border from us, to purchase some heirloom tomatoes and take care of the itch I get on a daily basis of taking photos.

Check out the delicious fruits, vegetables, views, and freshly homemade apple cider donuts through my lens!

Until next time, I hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday wherever you may be!

xoxo, Jody

A View of July in Massachusetts Through My Lense

Oh July, how I love thee. I realized today that it’s been awhile since I last blogged. Not that I didn’t have anything to blog about, time just got away. In fact, it’s hard to believe it’s mid-August already! Seriously, where has the time gone?

If you know me well, you know that July is my favorite month of the year. Not only because my birthday is in July, duh, but July just makes me happy: There’s the gorgeous, long, sun-filled days that almost make up for the long, never ending winters we experience here in the North East. There’s also the trips to the beach, the lakes, the flowers, the birds chirping in the blooming trees, and the non-scheduled, lazy days I get to spend with my favorite humans.

Another one of my favorite things about July is celebrating independence day. One of the perks of living in Massachusetts is witnessing how proudly New Englanders deck out their homes and line their main streets with the good old red, white, and blue.

The flags that stand at attention, and ask for attention in return, are always an amazing and breathtaking sight to take in. I’m telling you, friend, there’s just something about those colors that fill me with goose bumps and water filled eyes every time I pass along our roads.

So come along and take a look through my lens at my town all dressed in our countries colors.

Until next time…

xoxoDSC_0065 - CopyOne of the things you’ll notice about most New England towns are the historical homes that line up on the main roads that lead through town. This one just happens to be one of my favorites. And can you spot the bicycle near the fence? Don’t you just want to climb on and ride around town?
DSC_0001 - Copy Another great thing about July is all of the blooms and the intoxicating fragrances you’ll see and smell. I can’t ever get enough of them. DSC_0013 - Copy See what I mean? Doesn’t your skin just get all goose pimply? DSC_0015 - Copy DSC_0023 - Copy DSC_0028 - Copy DSC_0030 - Copy Our Town Hall all decked out. DSC_0032 - Copy The link between the past and present is so beautifully represented in every one of these homes that dot our main street. How many stories do you think each home has to tell? DSC_0034 - Copy Oh, hello trees! How do you do? DSC_0036 - Copy Interested in some home grown produce? Well step right in. There’s no one to ring your purchases. No, it’s all done the old fashioned way: the honor system. Isn’t that the greatest? DSC_0043 - Copy DSC_0045 - Copy And the view right outside of the store isn’t too shabby. I mean, come on. DSC_0047 - Copy DSC_0048 - Copy DSC_0052 - Copy DSC_0059 - Copy DSC_0062 - Copy Oh this little house. DSC_0063 - Copy DSC_0064 - CopyThank you for coming along with me. I hope you enjoyed our little adventure as much as I did.

Day Trip To Southwick Zoo

After breakfast, we decided it was too beautiful a day to waste sitting at home. So we loaded up the jeep and headed to Mendon, Mass so we could visit Southwick Zoo. It’s a quick hour and half drive from our casita, and once you’re there it’s sooo worth the drive!

It’s not a great big zoo — about 300-acres of lush land. But it sure is filled with lots of charm and personality. Another plus is that it’s privately owned and operated. It has been since it first opened in 1963.

Things to do while at the zoo: There’s a Skyfari Sky ride (our favorite thing to do…every single visit) that takes you over a good portion of the zoo. You can spot camels, chimps, alligators, deer, and cattle from the air. Other fun attractions are the petting zoo, which is filled with loads of what seems to be always hungry goats. There’s also pony rides, camel rides, and the Woodland Express train which drives you through the native wetlands. Some cool things you may see while on your train ride are elk, geese, turtles, sometimes snakes, and lots of birds.

Don’t forget to take a look at the giraffe exhibit! Did I mention there’s a baby? A really cute baby?

Come along and have a look at the zoo through the lens of my camera.

Until next time… xoxo
